In my nearly 50 years of living in Chatham-Kent nestled neatly between 3 of the most beautiful Great Lakes in North America and riding along 3 major river channels including the Thames, the Sydenham and the St Clair, I've come to the realization that the only reason we have the semblance of a cleaner agricultural landscape, is because the people of Lambton and Kent have spent the better parts of 150 years in caring and maintaining the delicate balances of human encroachment and pollution, and the fortuitous evolution of our people and their growth.
Dresden and the roads leading to it have been a major cornerstone of this small and successful community. The fact that folks out of the GTA aren't able to see the history and the continued support of hosting this nation's major farmlands, does not give them just cause to enact their own righteous process of bypassing and skirting laws.
Our laws and protections were placed to leep wealthy families and land owners from being able to manufacture these narratives that members of rural communities such as ours would suffer under for generations to come.
If it isn't 2025 and its family conglomerates trying to bully their way across the province, it'll be another rich family with no local incentives who'll try next.
As a resident of Ontario, I distrust my government and for good reason. Any false incentive and promise by government officials should and will always be scrutinized.
Do NOT impact the lives and health of our lands, as these events have long lasting effects on the population of people who do not support these changes and obvious signs of corruption regarding the EA requirements being challenged once the community spoke up.
Keep your trash and we'll keep ours. Let's work together, and stop just taking from the communities who literally feed your grocery stores.
JB, resident of Chatham-Kent and I am in opposition of any act that literally drags trash into our backyards.
