I am writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 5. This legislation poses a serious threat to democratic participation, environmental protection, and public accountability in Ontario.
Bill 5 undermines essential safeguards that allow citizens and communities to have a voice in decisions that affect our environment, health, and future. By limiting the role of conservation authorities and reducing opportunities for public input on development proposals, this bill prioritizes short-term development interests over long-term sustainability and public well-being.
Ontarians deserve transparency, meaningful consultation, and strong environmental protections- not weakened oversight and diminished public participation. I urge the government to withdraw Bill 5 and commit to policies that uphold and protect our natural heritage and greenspaces for future generations.
