I am so pleased that the Lambton County Council has chosen to support the people of Dresden and neighbouring Lambton County who overwhelmingly passed a motion that an EA be required by York1 and to forward this request to Premier Ford, Sarnia Lambton MPP Bob Bailey, Lambton-Kent MiddlesexP Steve Pinsonneault and the Minister of the Environment. For Premier Ford to change his mind about the EA requirement is not acceptable by the people. To quote the Warwick Township Mayor Todd Case…’The EA process is crucial….public consultation trickles compared to what it does in a regular EA process’. It is essential for our voices to be heard and that the extreme devastation this would cause to our town be publically communicated. 700 trucks DAILY, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is not acceptable….this proposal to expand this small dormant, and I repeat dormant landfill is within 1minute of the town of Dresden. To have this pollution so close to people’s homes and hundreds of trucks possibly running right through our town is not feasible, humane or in any way acceptable. And an EA wil show just that.
