The proposal by the PC government in Ontario to reopen a waste disposal facility in Dresden is going to be an environmental disaster. The amount of waste and pollution that this site is going to create is going to ruin people’s way of life not to mention their water wells. The amount of pollution caused by trucking waste to Dresden will be felt for decades. There is a small creek in close proximity to the proposed landfill which empties into the Sydenham river that runs through Dresden, Tupperville and Wallaceburg. I know waste has to go somewhere but this is way too close to the people living around it and the town of Dresden. Can you imagine the impact it will have on our public and high school students in Dresden to cope with that kind of traffic being that most of the students are bused in from the rural communities. I beg you to reconsider this area. The people of Toronto need to get a handle on the amount of waste they generate and find other alternatives besides putting their trash so close to people’s homes and towns.
