I have a concern re the following paragraph:
"Allow municipalities to permit the use (i.e., zone the lands) without having to strictly adhere to existing local requirements (e.g., official plan and zoning);"
This appears to leave the way open for the re-zoning of a provincially significant wetland, and for protected parts of the greenbelt to be paved over and re-purposed for residential development.
The government was not given a mandate from the people of Ontario, who worked to ensure the protection of valuable land resources, to enable development companies to profit from destroying them.
Our greenbelt belongs to the PEOPLE of Ontario, and we expect our government to respect and protect it.
