No, full stop, absolutely not. Nothing is more critical to the economy than a healthy natural environment. We are experiencing extreme weather events, drought, and extreme heat because of the severe loss of tree canopy in Southern Ontario, and the world. Urban Forests and other natural landscapes are not to be underestimated for their ecological and meteorological contributions. You may see clearcutting as economically beneficial in the short term, but how much will it cost when the loss of evapotranspiration and weather cycling results in a disease-ridden and drought-stricken Niagara wine country? When Lake Ontario is toxic and harmful 365 days of the year, and not just in small bouts as it is now? We will pave ourselves into extinction.
