This policy undermines the basic tenets of truth and reconciliation that was outlined by the federal government. Attempting to circumvent due consultation with First Nations people is unethical. The Calls to Action emphasize the importance of meaningful consultation with Indigenous peoples in all areas of reconciliation. This includes engaging with Indigenous communities, Elders, and knowledge holders in the development and implementation of policies and programs. Additionally, this bill undermines democracy at municipal levels. What would even be the point of electing municipal leaders when you are going to force your policies and developments regardless. You are eroding democracy. You are destroying our environment. You are creating harm to the people of Ontario. And you must stop.
