I am highly opposed to this proposal as it blatantly ignores the protection of species and implies the development of infrastructure on habitats prior to verification of safety for the species. The most significant issue is summarized with the statement “harassment of species will not be an activity that requires registration or a permit”. This directly contradicts the claim of being a protection act and this bill should not be passed without substantial amendments, focused on the rights of animals and native species with their protection at the forefront. Building on natural habitats will not make Ontario more sustainable - it will destroy our home and native land.
