To me, this proposal would unjustifiably elimiate an environmental assessment, which thus eliminates a comprehensive assessment of the project's potential impacts and risks to water, wildlife, and human health, among other factors.
It would remove the requirement to review a potential need for and alternatives to the current project.
It would significantly weaken the government’s ability to protect species that are at-risk (due to humans and upon which humans rely).
It would fail to acknowledge Indigenous rights, including the province's duty to consult and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (e.g., requiring free, prior and informed consent). It would be disrespectful to all people.
