I am completely opposed to the new Economic Zones proposed under Bill 5. We are a democratic society, with longstanding environmental and planning laws in place for a reason. These laws protect Ontarians from commercial interests that disregard our environment, water quality and biodiversity. It is abhorrent to see the Ford government put forth totalitarian policies that would allow commercial interests such as mining projects be rubber-stamped without regard for existing laws and indigenous land rights. Environmwntal laws and stewardship does not impede economic growth and shoukd not be sacrificed in the wake of Trunp's tariffs. This proposal is not economic strategy, it is a power grab assault on our environment and democratic principles. This schedule under Bill 5 needs to be revoked.
