Landfills are a necessary part our modern world! Nobody disputes that! This landfill proposal in Dresden is for construction waste, soil washing and recycling of construction materials! York 1 saw open land, a small, closed dump from the middle of last century and a small population, compared to Toronto and thought, “Here are some easy pickings!!” They lied and sold the idea as a recycling facility! The municipality thought, “Sorting blue boxes, great” WRONG! We are being used for their profits! We are close to the US border! Tucked away where nobody can see their shifty behaviour! $$$$$$$$ are more important than the people, wildlife, plant life, water quality, air quality, aquifers, soil and ground damage! Well, we feel we are important, we are tax paying citizens of Ontario! Why are we being treated as an annoying nuisance! The land here grows food for all of Ontario! Once it is damaged, it will be forevermore, useless! No food, no home for wildlife! Endangered species will become extinct! Some of the last Carolinian forest will be gone! People will get sick! This is completely preventable! I know modern landfills have liners and technology to keep the environment safe but if there is one little mistake, one spring flood, one “whoopsie,” than our home will be forever ruined! Please make them build a facility farther away from a municipality and potential, irreversible disasters!
