I am writing to object to the changes proposed to the Endangered Species Act, 2007. The time it takes to assess development proposals is crucial in ensuring that we do not endanger our native flora and fauna any further than it has already been. If anything, more should be done to ensure that human development does not encroach on native species habitats to avoid and limit as much environmental fragmentation as possible. Building sprawling suburbs with single family housing that are not actually transit accessible to destroy the last vestiges of protected wildlife species is extremely detrimental to our society and its longevity.
