I think that the changes proposed will be a regret in the future. When people are shocked that "we" allowed endangered species to become extinct in areas of Ontario...what will we say? That it was for "Build Better Faster"??
I live in the countryside near the Rideau River. Because of the new faster approvals my neighbour wants to build a dense subdivision which will destroy aboriginal and early settler camping/living sites..but we don't need to look back on our histories? Nope. Aboriginal artifacts have been removed! Turtles, water birds and amphibians nesting right where they want to build? No problem...they will move on or die out. Clearly the changes to the Endangered Species Act will benefit builders. Oh but we need more homes...true. But there are ways to integrate human development with natural resources.
