As someone who has had the privilege of being born and raised in Ontario and enjoyed endless outdoor activities that shaped my childhood and undoubtedly millions more, I’d like the definition of habitat to remain as is.
We must find methods to economically prosper that do not sacrifice environmental protection and rural communities.
Environmental health is human health. Prioritizing our present economic interests in the here and now is not only going to have future human health costs, but will undoubtedly engender further expenditure from Ontario in the future. We cannot afford to care for people with a public health system on a planet that is dying.
I love my country, and I love its people. We are robbing future generations of the beautiful space we have the honor of existing in.
