First the Ford government gutted Ontario’s Conservation Act, which protected ecologically unique habitats for wildlife and now this proposal removes any remaining protections left for endangered species.
Ontario residents want an effective, engaged and participatory process to progress; not the heavy-handed, one-sided approach Ford and he’s inner circle continue to push. It didn’t work to develop the Greenbelt and it won’t work here.
Development can happen without negative ecological impact; it just takes something called “work” to identify solutions. I strongly encourage the Ford government to educate themselves, by doing the work necessary, to find an alternative approach to development that does not sacrifice the unique and sensitive ecological aspects of our slice of Canada to build strip mines and gas lines on promises of battery factories now delayed by industry, and energy demands now met by renewables.
Go touch grass.
