Hello. My name is Jess. I was born in Toronto but have lived all over Ontario in the cities, suburbs, and rural areas. I have college diplomas and a university degree in Landscape Technologies and Architecture. Which is to say I studied a mix of environmental science and urban planning. So please understand I am coming at this from personal experience as well as study and learning, this proposal should not be passed. Degradation to environmental studies causes issues and damage that cannot be taken back. Many ecosystems, once destroyed, take several generations to return if they ever do at all. Even if you do not care about future Ontario residents having cleaner air, water, and safe enjoyable green spaces, (all of which will be harmed if this proposal goes through), then you should at least care about the insurance and flood damage which always occurs when proper environmental assessments are not taken into account. The Insurance Bureau of Canada are themselves a vocal advocate for conservation and conservation authorities. The damage that will ensue from not requiring full studies and permits before building will cost people, cities, and Ontario as a whole, a lot of money. Even if the proposal is a business motivated decision, it is a bad one. Furthermore if there is any incentive for it besides business then it is still a bad decision. Coyotes are terrorizing downtown Toronto right now because of exactly the kind of mistake this proposal will allow more of. So once again, I urge you from all aspects, that of caring for people, the environment, from a building and cost perspective, for the safety of Ontario today and for many future generations to come, do not remove what little environmental protection we have left. Do not allow this proposal to pass.
