The Endangered Species Act is a crucial part of protecting endangered species in Canada. Bill 5 directly threatens the act's goals by removing conservation areas which house these endangered species, fast tracking their extinction. This will ruin Ontario's natural ecosystems and cause irreparable damage to the areas that we strive to protect. In addition, Bill 5 also threatens the livelihoods of indigenous communities by taking land that they depend on. These are just a couple of reasons why Bill 5 should not be passed. It would go against what Canada has always stood for and threatens the lives of people and animals that call Ontario home.
