This bill serves only to remove protections for vital ecosystems and species that are essential parts of what makes this province great to make it easier to exploit the wonderful beautiful land that we all live on. Redefining the word "Habitat" to only include the dwellings of species neglects the importance of migration routes that are essential to the survival of endangered migratory birds. If those migratory routes become unusable, then they will no longer make it to their nesting grounds meaning that those areas will no longer be considered "Habitat", a feedback loop that will lead to the collapse of these at risk bird populations. After all the great work that mad been done to restore these vital habitats (and yes, I mean including migratory routes) is this really the path we want to go down? Federal laws do not protect migratory bird habitats, under either definition, on private or provincial crown land, it is necessary for the survival of many species that provincial laws fill this gap.
