The decision to eliminate public consultation in development planning is undemocratic. Bill 5 gives developers extraordinary powers while stripping communities of their voice. This is a fundamental betrayal of the public trust and weakens transparency and accountability in Ontario governance. Environmental and planning decisions must include public participation, not be handed over to private interests behind closed doors.
I strongly oppose Bill 5 and will not be supporting a government who follows through with it.
