I strongly oppose Bill 5. This legislation threatens Ontario’s wetlands, ecosystems, and environmental protections at a time when we should be looking to implement stronger, not weaker, environmental protection laws. It priorities unsustainable development over the health of our ecosystems and ultimately, our communities, whose health is inherently tied to the natural world. Short-term development should never be prioritized over the long-term health of the environment. We should be advocating for more protection so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy nature in the same capacity as we have had the opportunity to. I urge the government to withdraw this bill.
