I oppose the Proposed Amendments to the Ontario Heritage Act, Schedule 7 of the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025

These amendments allow for exemptions to archaeological requirements where it could potentially advance a provincial priority. This statement indicates that what this government deems as a priority (even if only “potential”), trumps all other values - including the removal of a consultation process with first nations people, disrespecting their aboriginal culture and heritage, and possibly denying their democratic rights.
