Dear Minister Fedeli,

RTOERO is a trusted voice for healthy, active aging, representing over 81,000 members across 46 districts in Ontario. We advocate on behalf of the education community and seniors, focusing on issues that impact their well-being, including healthcare, social policy, and the environment.

We are writing to express our concern regarding the proposed Special Economic Zones Act, 2025. While we understand the importance of economic development and streamlined processes, we are concerned that these changes may come at the cost of environmental protections and public oversight. Seniors and all Ontarians benefit from a clean and sustainable environment, and we believe it is vital that environmental safeguards remain a core part of any development process.
