I am writing to strongly oppose the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007, and the new Species Conservation Act, 2025.
Allowing developers to proceed immediately after registration—without thorough environmental review—puts Ontario’s at-risk species in danger. These changes weaken oversight and prioritize speed over science-based decision-making.
I’m also concerned about the proposed political discretion over species listings and the redefinition of terms like “harassment,” which could reduce essential protections.
Ontario’s biodiversity must be preserved. I urge you to oppose this bill and protect our most vulnerable species.
