I strongly object to proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act and Species Conservation Act.
It allows as yet unnamed government-appointed individuals (developers maybe?) to decide which species deserve protection. It limits species habitat protection to the "critical root zone" of an endangered plant or the occupied nest or den of an endangered animal. It wipes out the need to obtain a permit before destroying endangered species' habitat: now all you have to do is tell the government you're going to do it, and abandons all government efforts and responsibility for recovery strategies for endangered species.
While we want to encourage economic development and housing construction we cannot do so without proper assessment and determination of the risk of irreversible environmental impacts. The maintenance of a healthy environment and diversity of a healthy wildlife population is vital for generations to come, our children, grandchildren and beyond.
