Endangered species and their habitats need increased protection, which is the opposite of the proposal I’ve read here. What I’m seeing here is a proposal seeking to rubber stamp and accelerate development which would allow and encourage immediate shovels in the ground without thorough assessment of the impact on endangered species and habitat.
And a “voluntary” program for preserving habitat is useless. Who will sacrifice even a fraction of their bottom line to be responsible stewards of this land? If developers aren’t required to be responsible and accountable, they won’t be.
With everything happening in the world right now, we don’t need another dumpster fire crisis, setting up following generations for disaster.
