I am deeply worried about the implications and effects of the proposed Bill 5 (making changes to the Endangered Species Act) and urge the immediate withdrawal and rethinking of this bill, and indeed the approach of the government to nature and wildlife. Species at risk need support and protection, not increased threats to their habitats -- and we need those species to be protected too. Just because climate change and environmental pollution were not big issues in the recent provincial election doesn't mean they have gone away and doesn't mean they're not important to a great number of Ontarians. The world we live in is hugely at risk -- and eventually we will be at risk too.
Please halt Bill 5 and work instead to improve legislation helping Ontario wildlife, trees and plants.
Thank you.
