Without an environmental assessment there will be no way to repair the damage after the fact done by the Owner of the property York1. The things that a EA would stop from happening are as follows: Contaminates from leaching, contaminating wells used for drinking water adjacent to the property. Contaminants flowing in to Molly's Creek and the Sydenham River from surface water when a large down pour of rain occurs which happens a couple of time a year. Asbestos particulates getting into the air from the processing of asbestos and flowing down the 800 meters to the High School property and closer residential properties. Noise pollution from the crushing and processing of concrete materials. Routing of 700 garbage trucks a day to keep school buses, farm equipment and resident auto travel in the area.
An environmental assessment at best would stop the idiocy of putting a dump on top of a town, a wetland, 25km from a major hwy in the midst of homes and neighborhoods.
An Environmental assessment at least would ensure that York1 would be held accountable to put in the protections required to stop all of the above from happening in their property if the project moves forward.
