I am NOT confident that my comments will have any effect but it is my duty to advocate for the wildlife.
Decades ago, Species at Risk legislation was introduced in an attempt to counteract the serious decline of wildlife and its habitat. Politician must NOT replace the committee of scientists who dictate legal listing and protection decisions. It is common knowledge that wildlife depends on a variety of habitats and biodiversity to survive.
The war on wolves is both vile and violent; killing apex predators, scrapping their ESA protection, and permitting continued killing is NOT wildlife 'management'.
The permit system must endure; NO activity should be allowed that could imperil species at-risk.
Finally, why is the word 'harass' even being considered for removal! Again, it is common knowledge that harassing wildlife can be fatal to the animal who is being harassed.
It is appalling that Premier Doug Ford promotes Team Canada but is willing to scrap the ESA and destroy wildlife with the stroke of a pen.
