I support the comments made by the Canadian Environmental Law Association, that, in CELA’s view, “Schedule 2 of Bill 5 proposes an excessively narrow definition of animal habitat is analogous to just protecting a house bedroom, but omitting any protection for other important areas (i.e. kitchen, living room, hallways, etc.).”
I am opposed to Bill 5’s proposed modification of the definition of habitat.
I am also opposed to the proposal that would allow Cabinet to make decisions regarding the listing of species. This is not a function that is best performed by Cabinet. Such determinations should remain in the purview of scientists.
