It is a turbulent time for municipalities, for the province, and for the nation. It feels existential, and certainly matters will be required to meet these existential threats. I am all for measures that will safeguard the economy and ensure more housing is built in the province to meet demand. That being said, I do not feel that this draconian measure is the answer. In my very core, I do not believe it is right to centralize power into one authority to bulldoze any acre of God‘s green earth, without speaking to the proper legal and traditional authorities of it. There is a history in this province, and you would bury it. There is a living culture that celebrates the land and you would bury it. There are some of the most beautiful landscapes, rivers, and wildlife in the entire country here, and you would bury it. I strongly urge you to reconsider this measure, and all it implies. Otherwise, we will show you the voices in the actions of those who oppose it will rise.
