How could the removal of the EA requirement ever be considered a legitimate and acceptable thing to do?? It had been required a few months ago and magically Premier Ford and his ministers have changed their minds and say it is no longer required through their Bill 5. They try to rationalize their decision ‘to protect Ontario’ and for some reason must feel that Dresden and the neighbouring communities as well as the Indigenous people’s rights, treaties and constitution are excluded from this protection. They should be ASHAMED of themselves and any minister who votes in favour of Bill 5. To not have an EA done prior to this project is infuriating. York1’s proposed project of taking a small dormant incinerator ash landfill 800 meters from Dresden and turning it into a massive dump bringing thousands of tonnes of garbage DAILY via 700 trucks should not even be considered without undertaking a full EA. For something of this magnitude to even be slightly considered a full EA must be done to protect the people who live all around this site. Premier Ford wants to speed up the process by removing the EA…this is WRONG on EVERY level. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE’S LIVES ARE AT STAKE HERE!!! WE MATTER TOO!!!

THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT MUST AND I REPEAT MUST BE REINSTATED. PERIOD.
NO IFS, ANDS OR BUTS.
