I am against the removal of the full environmental assessment for the subject property on Irish School Rd in Dresden Ontario. This was never a full out landfill. It was a transfer station with only 2 acres of the entire property designated for landfill limited to 5% commercial waste and 95% potash and ash from the Dresden incinerator which has long since been defunct. This was designated back in the 1970s long before we knew the devastating effects landfills had on our environment and health. This property abuts Molly's Creek which feeds into the Sydenham River which is home to at least 33 at risk species including several endangered species such as the Eastern Sand Darter and Northern Madtom. Additionally, there are 34 species of freshwater mussels and 80 species of fish found in the area, with many of these species listed as endangered or threatened.. The river flows through several communities and borders farmlands before going on to empty into the Lake St Clair. Passing through the town of Tupperville, Wallaceburg and Walpole Island. The Creek and river flood extensively each spring and with rising water levels the problems worsen. This is not a suitable site for this reason. The proposed site abuts numerous homes, many multigenerational. The extended property abuts the town of Dresden which contains a high school and several elementary schools, a food processing plant, restaurants, bakery etc. These are all within 1 to 2 km from the proposed site. Asbestos fears, pollution and odors are a real and valid concern. The province needs to consider other properties at least 3km from any residence. They should also be addressing other more ecol*friendly ways to deal Toronto's giant waste problem
