STOP BILL 5 IMMEDIATELY
The framing and intentions of this Bill are despicable. The way the government has crafted an entirely disingenuous initiative is appalling; this Bill does not serve the interests of any of Ontario's future citizens, our children, our environment, our necessary biodiversity, nor respect Indigenous rights. This does not lean into the necessity for reconciliation, nor respond to the climate crisis readily at hand. With the state of the climate crisis, you should be ashamed of yourselves for even proposing to repeal the Endangered Species Act. This is not the active step nor the mandate Ontario intended for your government to put in; this DOES NOT respond to the trade war by any means, and was strategically not included in any of your campaign talks; the way you have consistently misled our province is right out of the book of the orange man down South that you continue to oppose in the media. Stop this tyranny and attempted further degradation of our planet.
As an educator, the one thing that I thank you for with this proposal is that it has given me an example to teach my students how to read texts rhetorically, search for bias, and understand the dynamics of persuasive speech and how biased rhetoric can be misleading. This Bill is a perfect example of how one can conceal their intentions with misleading rhetoric and disingenuous claims, and sadly, for the future generations I teach, they will see that it is their own government that uses these tactics. I am appalled to see this proposal being put forward.
