I am against this proposal…

I am against this proposal. There is NO good reason any project should be exempted from any provincial or municipal law. Laws exist for a reason and need to be followed to make sure a project does not create undue damage and cost to taxpayers and the environment. To do otherwise is reckless and irresponsible. The government should not allow private companies or itself to act above the laws that are in place. There have been significant examples in the past (Giant Mine in NWT comes immediately to mind), of projects that have had limited oversight, and created more damage than they have produced in revenue. That is absolutely unacceptable, and we need to do a thorough, full environmental and other lawful assessments to do our due diligence, to make sure that does not happen with this proposed project. This law is authoritarian and draconian, and disrespects the people of Ontario, our natural environment, indigenous rights, the list goes on. This Portion of Bill 5 MUST be withdrawn for the sake of our democracy! If a project has merit, it will go through the proper processes!
