Re: Development Charges Act
There has been discussions regarding reduced development charges for a variety of types of projects.
Once new subdivisions have been conveyed back to the municipality it is the responsibility of the municipality to maintain these subdivisions for entirety. These cost are partially covered by property taxes and possibly through development charges.
Where a developer develops an infill development such as a condo why would the developer be expected to pay full DC charges. The condo corporation retains ownership of private roads and infrastructure. The provincial policy supports infill projects, there is no further burden to the municipality as all replacement cost are borne onto the owners of the development. I’m seeking the ministry to give further DC credits for infill project giving relief to the end user.
