This bill is a step in the wrong direction for Ontario, which has been making meaningful progress by implementing Green Building Standards across many regions of the province. Rather than removing these standards, Ontario should be expanding to all municipalities. These standards save the lives of millions of birds annually, protect other species of wildlife, and also provide important energy savings and climate change mitigation - all of which are critical to maintaining the health and functionality of key ecosystems and biodiversity in Ontario. Prioritizing sensible building and development in Ontario does not need to come at the cost of gutting our environmental and climate protections.
