I strongly object to the passing of Bill 17. It will strip municipalities of too much of their power to plan and guide development in a way that puts their resident's best long term interests first. We agree on the need for more housing,. nd for the housing that exists to be more affordable. This agreement stops short of how to deal with the issue. Please reconsider the bill as it is written to return a level of control to municipalities such that they may plan for environemental and climactic changes and actively work to address these problem before they occur (through policy vehicles like Toronto's Green Standard).
