I oppose any initiative to draw back the level of recycling.
1. Why do producers need " more time to plan and make investments for collection and recycling to meet their targets." The producers never gave the public more time to plan whether they wanted plastic in the first place. The producers foisted plastic on the world because it profited themselves, not the public. Somehow the world got by without plastic for thousands of years, let us get back to that.
2. Why does recycling have to be profitable? Is the sewage treatment system profitable? Would the province shut down sewage treatment if it became "unaffordable". Plastic is suffocating and poisoning the planet, it can't be allowed to continue merely to provide public convenience and producer profits.
3. Would we stop growing food if farming became too expensive? Why are developers allowed to build on good farmland when they create no new land to replace it..
When will sanity be the principle of government instead of lobbying and opportunism on the part of unelected individuals whose only motive is to make money.
