Something I'm concerned about is the pollution that CN generates through its activities in the train yards close to the proposed development. Could CN attempt to clean up its act instead of blocking development - maybe install filters so people who live and work in the city don't have to breathe diesal exhaust from the train yards?
I live across the street from the proposed housing development and I think the density of the plan should be scaled back. Five hundred units is a lot for that space in what is now a quiet peaceful neighbourhood and a tall tower will seem out of place amongst the nearby homes. I realize that housing is needed, but the scale of the project is too big - the wrong fit for the North End. A park should be made there instead with lower density plan and another site chosen so homes can be built.
There was a planned condo project which has never been been buillt near the waterfront and the Discovery Centre, so why not use that vast cleared space near the waterfront instead cramming too many people next to the train tracks? The old building where my son attended cadets as a teenager was appropriated and torn down for the condo development near the waterfront and then it never happened. Why not use that space as well?
