Please do not transfer the park land to the town of Wasaga Beach.
Much of the re-development of the area includes housing compacted in so tight it leaves no space for vehicles or includes garages upon which no ordinary vehicle would fit. There is little consideration for parking in these proposed developments.
Back when the beach areas were first developed land was purchased under threat of expropriation or expropriated from private persons. The park system has been a huge success bringing folks from all over to enjoy the waterfront. I'm told that revenue from the Wasaga parks fund a number of other parks and allow them to operate.
It seems hypocritical to now turn the land over to the town so it can be sold for housing.
And let's be realistic. This is not affordable housing. This is prime beach property that will be anything but affordable. Regardless of how dense they are packed in. Which appears to be the proposal.
Please do not allow the town to ruin the parks. Keep them public in the hands of Ontario parks.
