As someone planning to move…

As someone planning to move to Wasaga Beach with my family next year, I care deeply about the future of this community. Four generations of my family have visited Wasaga every summer, and we treasure its small-town charm, beautiful beaches, and natural surroundings.

I support thoughtful economic growth and downtown revitalization that bring sustainable jobs and strengthen the year-round economy. However, it’s vital that this happens without sacrificing what makes Wasaga special. The beaches must remain clean and safe for swimming, and the shoreline should be protected from overdevelopment and erosion.

I urge the province and the town to prioritize climate resilience in any redevelopment—especially as water levels rise and extreme weather events become more frequent. Plans should include natural flood mitigation, dune preservation, and protections for Wasaga’s tree canopy and biodiversity.

Tourism and conservation can go hand in hand. With the right balance, Wasaga Beach can grow while still offering the peaceful, nature-rich environment that’s meant so much to families like mine for generations.
