The proposal to sell off…

Comment

The proposal to sell off public and protected land in the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is irresponsible and will negatively impact our province. The people of Ontario need these natural spaces for our health. To be away from the concrete jungles this provincial government is focusing on building. The park is also home to the endangered Piping Plover that nests at the beach that is proposed to be sold off to land developers. The piping plovers disappeared from Ontario due to land development until the Endangered Species Act was enacted (that this current provincial government repealed). The Wasaga Beach location is the most productive nesting site and the sell off of the beach will undoubtedly cause harm. This amendment sets a dangerous precedent and is following in the Trump US style public land sell off. How is this amendment “Protecting Ontario”?
