I do not support the proposal to remove provincial park status from parts of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, including Beach Areas 1 & 2, New Wasaga, and Allenwood Beach. These areas are valued natural spaces that should remain protected under the Provincial Parks Law to ensure they are preserved for future generations.
There is already ample room for development and tourism infrastructure, as demonstrated by the old Wasaga Beach strip. It is unnecessary to remove park protections to support local tourism. Responsible development can and should occur outside of ecologically and recreationally sensitive areas.
Additionally, Nancy Island should remain under provincial parks law, not be transferred to historical park management. The current provincial designation offers stronger protection against unplanned or inappropriate development and better ensures long-term conservation of the area’s cultural and natural value.
