As a long time resident of Wasaga Beach. I find this proposal disgusting. I understand there's a housing crisis, but in reality it's more of an affordability crisis. Post COVID, property owners and corporate landlords used the pandemic to inflate living costs beyond what was reasonable and excused it for "market value" when truly it was through collusion and manipulation. Developers say they'll help bring costs down by building more homes, but that's actually one of the weakest factors to actually make change. MPs and other local politicians need to grow a spine and actually address the affordability crisis with strategies that actually work, not by enriching developers and faceless entities that will buy it all up anyway.
