Premier Ford's government has proposed selling chunks of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park for development. That land includes critical nesting habitat for the Piping Plover, which could be lost forever if this goes through.
This cannot happen. Premier Ford and his government continue to put commercial interests ahead of the biodiversity and ecological health of our province. The increasing incidents of forest fires, flash floods, and ice storms in Ontario are only the beginning of the devastation to come if we continue to erode environmental protections.
Protecting the environment of the Piping Plover is an opportunity to protect our province's biodiversity and shift momentum.
I disagree very strongly with Premier Ford's proposal as it stands, and I hope it does not go through.
