Piping plovers are an indicator species, and without them, the beaches will never be the same. By destroying their habitat to build tourism destinations, you are destroying the very foundation of why people are attracted to the area in the first place. The beautiful scenery with unique and thriving biodiversity (that cannot be found many other places on Earth), attracts photographers, birders, naturalists, and more!
I implore you to reconsider and save the piping plovers before irreparable damage to our ecosystem is done. There are many scientist and citizen volunteers who work together to protect this species who only returned to the area roughly 30 years ago.
There must be a way to work together with Birds Canada and other knowledgeable experts and organizations to find a solution to support tourism, but in an eco friendly, wildlife preserving manner. Please reach out to them for collaboration and input at the very least.
