I am horrified that your government wants to reduce the area of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and turn it over to developers!! As our human population in Ontario grows, we need to do even more to PRESERVE and PROTECT our parks, including species that otherwise would not be able to thrive.
Yes, more and more people want access to the parks, but that's because we need parks for our well-being - not highrises! Experiencing nature - lakes, rivers, forests, meadows, beaches, etc. - is essential for human health. Our parks system gives people the opportunity to escape from cities, industrialization, and over-development. If anything, we need to increase the number and sizes of Ontario Provincial Parks, so that people can enjoy them in the traditional way, by camping or glamping, not by buying condos!
The Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act protects our parks from allowing sections of this, or any, Provincial Park to be chopped off and turned over to developers. I beg you not go through with this proposed amendment, and never to do this to any Ontario Provincial Park!!
