I absolutely oppose selling off provincial park lands to private developers and I know that most other people of Ontario would oppose this too if they were aware of it. That fact that they have not been made aware of it, I believe, is a deliberate inaction on the part of the Ontario government.
Green space is essential to the mental and physical health of all humans. This is a proven fact. City dwellers do not have access to enough green spaces in cities and need to be able to seek it in provincial parks.
In addition, every tree that is cut down increases the CO2 in the atmosphere because trees pull CO2 out of the air and store it in the soil. It is a well known fact that CO2 is increasing in the atmosphere and temperatures are rising. We need to increase the number of trees by planting more and by stopping cutting them down, whether in parks or in urban areas.
I ask in the strongest terms that you reject any amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act that would reduce the acreage of any and all Provincial Parks.
