The proposal to sell off parts of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is repugnant. Provincial parks are an important part of the national network of protected spaces in which the environment will be safeguarded from degradation. Ontario is so environmentally degraded now that the area of such spaces should be increased, not reduced. Furthermore the nesting environment of the piping plover, a federally-protected species, is sacrosanct. The enhancement of biodiversity is of far mor importance than short-term profit. Let's forget this ill-conceived plan immediately.
