I strongly oppose the proposed amendments that would allow for the sell-off of more than 600 acres of Wasaga Provincial Park. This land is not only ecologically sensitive, home to endangered species, but also a vital public resource that brings over 1.3 million visitors annually.
Allowing development in this protected area sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the core purpose of the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act. Ontario’s parks exist to conserve biodiversity, provide public access to nature, and preserve cultural and natural heritage—not to be handed over for private tourism development.
Economic growth should not come at the expense of irreplaceable ecosystems. Please reject this proposal and prioritize long-term environmental stewardship over short-term profit.
